Strangely Pleasant: Pleasantview (Round 4.2)

I'm having the boyfriend over for the Easter holidays, and a whole wad of university work to deal with, so I'm going on a two-week break :) I might post something occasionally, but probably not a whole lot. I'll be around checking the blog (and hopefully catching up a bit with others, which I haven't been able to do yet what with my frantic playing spree).

Public Service Announcement done, moving on to the update. We're starting out with the Lotharios, where Nina is nearing the end of her pregnancy.

µ

Don: "You sure we don't have to get you to a hospital or anything, babe?"
Nina: "Pfffsh, why would I do that?"

Regrets always come too late... The one thing I did like about TS3 was that Sims would actually go to the hospital to have their babies, rather than popping them out in the middle of the kitching/dining room.

At least Don's there to give moral support and advice, despite his complete lack of an uterus.

Nooboo!

Aheh, two nooboos :D They're a boy and a girl, named Diego and Camilla. Don seems very serious about this whole baby business.

Don: "I think mine's leaking."

A few days and a quick toss with confetti later, and Diego and Camilla have grown into toddlers. You can probably guess what Don and Nina got up to in the meantime. Hint: it wasn't researching parenting skills.

This is Camilla, which you probably guessed from the pigtails and pink dress (though I'm not judging anyone, mind). She made a beeline to the aquarium after transitioning, and informed me that her OTH is Nature. Looks like she's got Nina's nose :)

Diego, on the other hand, finds entertainment in dancing along to the stereo. Just a toddler, and he already looks like the new Don Lothario on the block, doesn't he?

Don has the lightest work schedule, so he gets saddled with trying to teach his kids the first bits of business about life.

Don: "What is it with women? No matter who they are, what they enjoy, how much of a little wildcat they are, sooner or later they all end up caring about what bloody lamps match the wallpaper and stairs."

Nina left children REALLY late. As in, almost-too-late-to-conceive late. It's time for her birthday, and what with all those past conquests of hers, she had lots of friends to invite for the party.

The party was a remarkably civil affair, without ACR making anyone try to steal Nina for some illicit smooching or anything. I'd have thought having her 10 woohoo partners in one room would lead to one huge brawl. Apparently not.

I think Other Abe's expression echoes the thoughts of most sims in this room. :P Except for Don, who's ignoring his girlfriend's big moment in favour of oggling Chloe Curious.

In comparison, Camilla and Diego had a very quiet birthday party soon after.

Diego transitioned into a fine-looking young lad, and is still glued to the stereo in the kitchen. (Hello Sigmund/Carl Curious!)

Camilla didn't do too badly for herself either, and prefers to express her love for music by providing her parents' romantic shenanigans with some touching background music. Well, more like screeching at this point, but she's getting better.

Despite being a family with two Romance Sims as parents, the Lotharios are actually the most tight-knit family in my hood so far. They do most, if not all, things together, and tend to gravitate towards eachother so they all end up in the same room. Who'da thunk it?

Don and Nina still stick together, and they barely roll wants to do with others anymore. I guess old age has mellowed them out somewhat.

Camilla wanted to buy an easle, and now spends her evenings painting in her bedroom.

I think that's Lucas Loner that Diego's thinking about. They're cousins, but they've never actually met. The Caliente sisters should have a little family get-together soon.

Don had been rolling wants to get a hottub for ages, so I finally got him one. I probably should've waited until spring. He's bound to catch a cold out there like that.

The Curiouses

Oswald grew up into an adult cat. He looks a bit bizarre with that rust-coloured patch on his head, but I like the spots a lot.

Marie had her birthday as well. Cassandra was so enthousiastic about her little girl growing up that she dislocated her shoulder while swinging the rattle.

Still looks just like her mom :)

And Vidcund completed the birthday hattrick by transitioning into an elder on the lawn. He hasn't changed all that much, aside from going grey and a bit more creaky.

Marie loves her animals. There's her cat, Oswald...

... and her womrat, Wobbles. She also wanted a birdcage and a puppy, but that's where I put my foot down.

Marie: "Who's a widdle Wobbles den? Mommy wants smoochies!"
Wobbles: "SOMEONE GET ME OUT OF HERE!"

Ooooooh, first snow :)

Cassandra grew old not long after Vidcund did. She looks rather distinguished, I think.

Marie, Sigmund and Carl working hard on their assignments. I don't know why the Curious household is so damn dark, they've got plenty of lighting :(

Sigmund and Carl had their birthdays as well, which I seem to have completely missed. At least I'm able to tell them apart nowadays, as their facial structures are quite different.

Carl takes after Vidcund more. He definitely has those brows, but his nose is Cassandra's. The endresult is somewhere between caveman and attractive :)

Sigmund has Cassandra's face, but Vidcund's nose. He has a softer look, though both Curious brothers have quite unique faces. I love them :)

Vidcund: "I must say I love your new look, honey! And saving up for clothes all by yourself, I can't tell you how proud I am of your sense of responsibility."
Marie: "Hehehe... thanks dad..." *totally bothered her mother until she gave in and handed her the creditcard*

Oh no! Marie! You were with us altogether for too short a time... A rose killed by late spring frosts, a candle that's been...

Oh. Just teaching Oswald a new trick, then. Never mind.

The Curious brothers brought both Beaker sisters over (not just Skadi, for once). Seems like Carl can't keep his eyes off them.

Carl: "Oh my goodness, there's GIRLS in my house!"

He's quick to put the schmooze on Freya. If only for the sole reason that I HAVE to know what a Beaker/Curious/Goth mix would look like.

Freya: "Carl Curious, eh? Oh! I totally dated your cousin once!"

To Freya, social skills are something that happens to other people.

As much fun as two Curious/Beaker unions would be, Sigmund wasn't very interested in Skadi. He much prefers Billie Broke, who he can talk about mechanics and tinkering with.

Sigmund: "...and then it started spouting trash everywhere? That's totally mad! I'd love to have seen that!"

Cassandra entertaining her female guests with some tea. She doesn't get a whole lot of girly-time together with Marie (who's usually busy pestering her pets), so she jumps at the opportunity of having three girls over at once.

The boys wanted to get into private school, so the headmaster was invited over for dinner. I hope he wasn't put off by Carl, who looks permanently like he's about to club someone over the head.

Headmaster: "I say, your mother certainly has prepared a most delicious meal!"
Carl: *Grunts*

Succes! The headmaster was convinced before the scenario was even finished. Mostly thanks to Vid's schmoozing prowess.

Vidcund made it to Ecological Guru. The only reason he doesn't look too thrilled about it is that he's got to fly to work with only a figleave for cover. In winter.

His greenhouse is coming along nicely as well.

I think Oswald is secretly the cheshire cat oO

The Specters

Aldebaran grew up into the most emo teen I've ever encountered in my game. That was his transitioning outfit, seriously.

He spends a lot of time cooped up in his room, writing bad poetry. Or doing homework. Or writing out his homework in iambic pentameter. That's how emo he is.

Thankfully, Benjamin provides the much needed lighter note to the household. I think he looks very dashing in that flamenco outfit :)

He fulfilled his LTW right before transitioning into an elder. Talk about timing!

Still crazy after all these years ^^

Al's taken a little job after school, like some kids do. Unlike other kids, this job usually involves picking pockets and running errands for people that make shady deals.

After work, he enjoys playing the violin. Badly. And on that (false) note, we're wrapping up Round 4 for Pleasantview. As I mentioned earlier, I'm going on a 2 week break, so the Strangetown update will either happen somewhere in that timeframe, and otherwise after it.

Thanks for reading :)

I love seeing all your kids grow up! :) I was trying to move quickly with my Pleasantview/Strangetown too, but then I lost interest, as usual. I never seem to get far enough to see generation 3 anymore. Sim ADHD + OCD = bad.

Oh, I hate to be bugging people with WCIFs, but I simply must know where you got Nina's elder PJs. Finding clothes for elders that are the elder body shape is hard, and finding sleepwear seems to be slightly impossible.

Have a good easter break!

I do love seeing the generations move along as well :) The only thing is I find I didn't really get to spend a lot of time with the families as they were originally. If I ever restart the hood, I'll do it with my 4days=1year lifespan I think. Tell me about the OCD thing, I'm already planning on something new (though I'm hoping to play it alongside Strangely Pleasant rather than replacing it altogether).

Don't worry about WCIFs, I really don't mind (though it may take me a while to find stuff, or I simply don't remember where I got something). Those elder nighties are from here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=234988
There's really not enough elder content out there, especially not formal wear and sleepwear that doesn't look like it belongs on someone 20 years younger -_-

I considered trying 4 days = 1 year (fits with the pregnancies), but then I realised baby/toddlerhood would last 24 days, childhood 24 days, etc... I don't think I'd have the patience. For my last uberhood attempt I played with 2 days = 1 year instead, but right now I've just got a very modest age mod, extending toddler- and childhood by 1 day each, shortening teenhood by 4 days, and adding an extra 5 (or was it 6?) days to adulthood. Oh, and university is just 8 days total, and 4 semesters (Cyjon's mod). :P

Anyway, thank you for the link. :) Yeah, that's exactly why I don't want adult clothes as elder clothes. Besides the body shape being wrong, most of it just doesn't look right on someone who's grey and stooped over.

This was so much fun to read! I really really enjoyed it. I love seeing all of those kids growing up. The Curious brothers and the Beaker sisters are my favorites! Although I love the way that Nina and Don's kids turned out too.

Thanks! :) The Curious and Beaker kids are my favourites too, they just have tons of personality ^^

I love how close the Lothario family is, even with two romance sims as parents. In a previous version of Pleasantview, Nina was a single parent and she was, without a doubt, the best parent in the whole game.

And I think it makes sense for Aldebaran to be so emo, his grandfather is Death after all ;)

Haha you're right, it does make sense! :) Hadn't thought of it like that ^^

Hey, I just caught up with this, and wanted to say I'm really enjoying it, especially seeing how all the children look. I really love how Vid and Cassie's kids turned out. Their parents have similar features to begin with, so among the boys they both look like both parents, but you can still tell whose sharp nose and whose pointy chin they got.
