BaCC Week 10: The Patanjali Family

Freesia and Rajat have set off out into the wilderness together, which isn't as far away as you'd think. The little settlement of Riverside Hollow might have tamed and domesticated the landscape around it somewhat, but it's still a day's walk away from forests that haven't seen a sim in hundreds of years, maybe even longer.
Their reason to go and set up camp in the great outdoors is twofold: Freesia has been officially accepted by the Adventurer's Guild and now works fulltime for them, and needs to have a basecamp to push her explorations of the region further, while on the other hand Rajat's newfound lycanthropy isn't fully under his control yet, and it's better that he stays away from regular sims until he has sorted himself out.

It's a dangerous world out there, but Freesia Fenwick laughs in the face of danger for a living!

A tent, a campfire, a hastily constructed toilet of the hole in the ground variety and a couple of other basics is all they start out with. The forests seem to be thick with wolves around here, but Rajat and Freesia, being werewolves, have nothing to fear from them.

Rajat's days are filled with hunting and fishing...

... while Freesia studies the research books she brought along. Her thrist for knowledge is at least as big as her hunger for adventure, and while she prefers to go out and learn by doing things, she also understands that having a solid understanding of the base theories of geography, history and archaeology are equally important.

Freesia and Rajat mostly spend their nights out hunting for food, but when they've had a good catch they make some time for sitting by the campfire and sharing stories. Freesia tells him about what growing up in a supernatural family was like, while Rajat recounts the tale of how he ran away from home as a teenager, and eventually ended up in Riverside Hollow.

Rajat: "Marshmellows!" :o

Rajat and Freesia don't need to sleep much, but they enjoy spending time in the tent anyway. And occasionally 'spending time' in the tent as well.

Freesia: "Fresh food is great, but after a while out here I could murder one of Wensley's cooked hamburgers..."

One of the wolves that hang around the campsite has been getting more and more friendly, accepting Rajat's treats and petting. He shares in their food and can sometimes even be persuaded to play around, and loves sleeping curled up next to the warm ashes of their campfire.

He's become very defensive of his sims as well, and tries to chase off anything that he perceives as a threat. Which includes squirrels, rustling leaves, birds, and on one occasion, a very startled badger.

Flora ready to chop some wood for the campfire, or maybe even ready to fell a tree so she can build the cabin that she's had in mind.

Or playing dangerous axe-throwing games. That works too.

With Flora off in the woods for the better part of the day, doing whatever Adventurers do, Rajat spends some of his time tending the small garden he planted close to the campsite. Cordelia Greengrass shared her mother's notes on growing plants in a forest clearing with him, and they've proven to be very useful.

Another, rather larger part of Rajat's time has been spent on building a cabin. They ran out of space to store their things, and while their wolf tries his best to keep the campsite clear of any intruders, he can't prevent the occasional mice having a nibble at Freesia's research books, or the rain getting everything thoroughly soaked.

It's not much, but for now it's home.

Rajat and Freesia celebrating having a roof over their head again. :)

Freesia: "Sitting down to eat food at an actual table? I can't remember when I last felt this civilised! Speaking of being civilised..."

Freesia: "Don't you think it's time we made things a bit more official?"

Note: Freesia and Rajat moved out with about $4.000 to their name, and couldn't afford a plot of land AND a house with basic amenities. I love these sort of game-generated prompts that make me have to think about what they'd do and where they would go, and then it was obvious that they'd set out into the wilderness and just camp until they could afford a house. :)
Playing them for this week was so much fun - everyone else is settled, has a house, and can afford whatever they like. It was lovely to really go back to basics.

Next up: The Picklethorpes!
