BaCC: The Greengrass Family
Davin and Myra aren't overly happy with Felix' decision to build their community in the forest meadow he chose. The ground in the open fields would be much better for growing fruit and vegetables. Still, they do understand the importance of sticking together in the early days of their expedition, and are employing the strategy of put up and shut up, for now.
Myra has been having a go at establishing the fruit trees she brought along, and sowing some seeds, but the plants aren't doing too well without fertiliser or insect spray. This kind of thing always seemed a lot easier back at her gardening course, where plenty of well-mulched and fertilised ground was available. She's giving it her best shot though, as the entire community will depend on her for food as soon as the stock they brought along runs out.

When not working in their garden, Myra and Davin brush up their various skills. Myra wanted to learn a thing or two about cooking, while Davin makes time for more creative pursuits.

Myra putting the theory into practice in her little kitchen.

I'm not sure how much cooking skill lunch meat sandwiches would require, but hey.
Myra: "Remember all that kissing we did earlier? Could we get that on again a bit later, please?"

A quick look at Davin's relationship panel confirmed that Nate and him are indeed furious at eachother. Nate underlined this fact by sneakily stealing the Greengrasses' newspaper.
Newspapers are becoming a rather precious commodity in the neighbourhood, as they are as of yet the only means of acquiring logic skill points. I know this isn't in the rules, but when I built the houses I didn't include any telescopes or chessboards, and rather than buy some I decided noone had thought of bringing any along, and they'll just have to put up with it for now.

The happy couple relaxing after a long, hard day's work.

Myra: "So about that kissing..."
Davin: *grin*

*Ching Ching-a-Ling!* Yep, those were babychimes I heard :)

I didn't even see Davin sneaking out in the middle of the night, but the sounds of a fight led me to discover him having a go at Nate. I've no idea who started it, and I'm also very glad I don't have the Zombie Apocalypse in my game.

Nate resoundingly kicked Davin's butt, on his own hometurf nonetheless.

Angry smiley faces accompanied the scenes of violence. I don't think any amount of counselling is going to help on this one.

Myra gets up at the crack of dawn everyday to tend her crops. I'm not sure how long she'll keep that up now she's got a bun in the oven.

Despite being the main instigator of the town's first trouble, Davin is best suited to take up the job of local mediator. He got himself into the Law career, and now guards his precious newspapers religiously so he can do the daily crossword.

Myra is starting to show :) She has a surprisingly easy pregnancy, apart from wolfing down huge quantities of food.

Her tomato plants are coming along allright as well. They will be pretty bland, but at least the crop isn't dying, and neither will the settlers. I'm having everyone store their leftovers just in case, anyway.

Nate drops by regularly for a dose of poking and prodding.

Well you started it, Davin.
Davin's disgusted by Nate's unnaturalness, while Nate thinks Davin is a bossy know-it-all who'd love to be in charge instead of Felix, which he sees confirmed in Davin taking on the job of town mediator. How can someone so prejudiced claim to be impartial? I have to admit he's right there, but the other question would be: who else is going to do it?

Myra stays out of the developing feud, and concentrates on harvesting her first yield of fruit.

Which isn't the only 'fruit' that gets 'harvested', if you get my meaning. (Okay, maybe my metaphores are getting a bit vague there.)

The town's first newborn is a little girl, which Davin and Myra have named Cordelia. She's got Myra's black hair and Davin's green eyes.

Davin might be a bit of a jerk, but he's a good father to little Cordelia as well. Ahw :)

Stocking up the (rather empty) fridge with fresh produce. Myra and Davin will be distributing their harvest through the community by gifts for now, rather than selling it. Davin gets along well with Felix and the Lovelace sisters, while Myra is friends with the Babbling Brothers, and everybody loves Arthur, so they can make sure everyone gets some fruit and veg.

Birthday time for Cordelia! Davin is sure that the morale boost of the town's littlest inhabitant growing up will ensure economic growth. Economic growth for what exactly?

Yay toddler! Cordelia looks cute enough, but experience tells me to wait until she's grown into a teenager at least to pass any lasting judgement. Her little button nose is adorable, though :)

The birthday girl gets a good wash in the tub.

You think so, Myra? Well, you'd know, having gone through all of that before. I honestly can't say I saw Myra and Davin at it, or heard any chimes. Missed it completely.

I'm applying some rules for myself with regards to aspiration rewards as well. Only Family Sims or Sims with Family as their secondary aspiration can use the Smartmilk (just like only Knowledge Sims can use the Thinking cap, and Fortune Sims the Money Tree.) Otherwise educating toddlers is a breeze, and where would be the fun in that? :P

Davin's advance in the Law career is very slow, thanks to the limited availability of newspapers. It doesn't help that sometimes Nate is faster than me and nicks the paper before I can bring it indoors.

With his wife pregnant again and taking care of their daughter, he's been spending more time helping out with the garden as well.

Davin's not very good with kids. What kind of subject is that to talk about with your toddler daughter anyway? Or are you trying to tell her you're just clocking in for the time it takes Myra to take a nap? Tssk.
Next up will be the Babbling Family. I've played Week 1 and 2 of the BaCC so far, and I'm playing Pleasantly Strange at the moment, so have no fear, that hasn't been forgotten :) Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for reading!
