Goodbye
Hey guys,
I haven't been around for ages, I know. I've been through a pretty big health scare, which pretty much made me lose interest in anything else but doctor appointments and hospital tests, and trying to cope with work in between. Long story short, I thankfully do not have cancer. It's been a pretty rough time between the lump first popping up and getting the test results back, though. It's given me time and the impulse to think about my life and what's important to me right now. If the lump had turned out to be cancerous, it would've been in a really bad place which is generally not associated with good recovery percentages. Shit like that makes you think.
What with everything, I've decide to quit TS2 altogether. While I love the game, it's such a big time hog for me that it doesn't leave me with enough space to work on other things that I've decided are more important: spending time with my loved ones, working on art and writing, seeing some of the world and experiencing new things. I've backed up my savegames and downloads folder just in case, but for now everything's been uninstalled and I'm not expecting to look back anytime soon.
I'd like to thank you all for the great times and fun I've had with my game. This is such an inspiring and creative community, and I'm glad to have been part of it. You guys are Good People. It's just time for me to start living my own life instead of sorting out those of my pixel puppets.
I will leave this journal and its downloads up, in case anyone finds my stuff useful. I won't be replying to comments or PMs on this account anymore though. If anyone really feels the need to get in touch about something, you can reach me on nepheris1985@gmail.com.
So long, and thanks for all the sims.

A Slightly Tipsy Legacy 1.6
Vodka and Whiskey are enjoying winter so far (and the snow days they've been getting off from school), despite the freezing temperatures. The little lake behind the farm has completely frozen over, but Jenever won't let them skate on it for fear that the ice isn't thick enough yet. So they've contented themselves with building angry devil snowmen all over the place.

Autumn has come to the Tipsy farm, which means that the family will be spending most of their time indoors now instead of outside. To accomodate Jenever's ever-growing family tree, the upstairs of the house has been expanded. Jenever and Sören now have an actual bedroom, as do their sproglets.

I'm cutting back on the commentary a bit, as I'm not really compos mentis enough to make a whole lot of sense (or try to be funny). So mostly picspam updates for now.
With Jenever busy on the farm, Sören does most of the parenting. How much harder could training a kid be than training some dogs, after all?

More Angler's Cove Progress
Two new houses , a library and a parking lot in between the library and the community center. And some neighbourhood pictures I thought were pretty.

Two new houses, one for the open spot next to the Greengrocer's, and one starting to fill in the next block, which will be a more fancy residential area with a community garden in the middle.

Married life seems to suit Jenever and Sören. Jen doesn't have a TV or other contemporary entertainment, but she does have a truckload of books that she brought along, and they spend most of their evenings reading together. Sören on the sofa, and Jenever in her comfy rocking chair.

When Sören moved in with Jenever, so did his two dogs: Leffe and Duvel. They are both named after Belgian beers, which will be the naming theme for the Tipsy dogs.
Leffe (pronounced Lef) was originally an Abbey beer, although it's been bought by a commercial brewery. It's brewed in many varieties such as blond, brown, ruby and tripel.
Duvel (Dou-vel, more or less) is the quintessential Belgian strong golden ale , and one of my favourites. Its name means 'devil' in some Dutch dialects, and refers to its high alcoholic content (8,5%) as well as strong flavour.

The weather is harsh in the small village of Twoflower Lake, with snow covering it for almost 6 months out of the year. The soil is hard and rocky at best, and everything from the icy winds that howl through the forests to the late frosts that nip young seedlings in the bud doesn't so much point towards unsuitable farming circumstances as bash you over the head with a flashing neon sign.

Download: Default CAS Face Replacements
Well, here they are: my very own face templates :) These wouldn't have been possible without
terrakosmos , who did all the actual hard work on them, so if you like them make sure to thank her ^^
I made a replacement for the alien face template yesterday, and it's included in the download as well. If you download Archon's fix, your townies can spawn as aliens, too! I kept the same principle as the other templates: the original smoothed out and fixed to be more breedable. The eyes are really quite large though, and your sprogs/townies will probably look better with alien contacts instead of their own eye colour. I'm thinking of making a default PT with this face template as well, as I like it a lot.

For those who haven't seen the post with all the face templates yet, you can check them out here.

Introducing: Jenever Tipsy
Yep, I'm naming my legacy after alcoholic drinks. I like naming schemes, as it makes picking names for the sproglets a whole lot easier. (I originally wanted to do a Cheesy legacy, with everyone named after different cheeses, but I think someone else is already doing that and anyway I have the Picklethorpes in my BaCC on that one now).
Why alcoholic drinks? There's enough varieties out there that I won't run out of names anytime soon, and noone that I know of is using it as a naming scheme. Cue end of contemplation.
Founder Jenever Tipsy (or Jen for short) is named after the spirit my hometown is sort of famous for. It comes in a myriad of flavours, from basic ones like lemon and apple to whacky stuff like chocolate and traditional sweets. In its original form however, it's a highly alcoholic juniper-flavoured spirit distilled from grain.

Right, enough alcoholic factoids, time for introductions.
Face Templates
Seeing as a few people were interested in seeing the face templates I made, I took some pictures to show them to you guys.
I based the templates on the original Maxis ones, and tried to smooth them out without losing the underlying characteristics. They're basically another set of defuglified Maxis faces, but tweaked to fit my own aesthetics. They might not be to everyone's tastes (they're a lot more 'samey' than most templates, I think), but I'm happy with them :)
Just like the original Maxis faces, some skintones work better with certain faces than others. I did try to keep them racially diverse, but much less exagerrated than the originals.
The lovely
terrakosmos (whose templates I have been using for ages and ages and referenced heavily to create mine) has offered me to make them into actual defaults! I am so ridiculously excited about that, you have no idea :D As soon as they are done I'll share them here on LJ, in case anyone else would like them.

Legacy Plans
I'm going to take a break from the BaCC for a little bit, as work is quite stressful at the moment and I'm coming home exhausted pretty much every night. I think my updates have been suffering because of it, and I'd rather put it aside for a while until I have enough energy to give it the sort of updates it deserves.
I'm not feeling much like doing the (rather boring and repetitive) posing for my Megahood Makeovers either, or building for Angler's Cove (lot shrinking headaches!), so I've decided to finally get on with that Legacy that I've been thinking about starting for quite a while now. It'll be nice to just play for a while and concentrate on a single family.
As I simply can't bring myself to play a legacy in an empty hood, I've quickly put together a neighbourhood for it to take place in, based on my Maple Lake neighbourhood terrain. I plopped various of Twoflower's lots in it, and gave it the fabulously original name of Twoflower Lake. It has a spring/fall/winter/winter rotation, and is supposed to be a rustic and pine-filled place up north somewhere. I'm currently in the process of making some townies for it (fun!) and figuring out who should be my founder.
I read about a particular legacy ruleset I wanted to follow a while back, but I seem to have lost my link to it. It had different challenges for every generation, the first was farming I believe, and the second business or something similar. If anyone could point me towards that post, I'd be very grateful :)
Now enough babbling, and on with the picspam!

BaCC Week 10: The Babbling Family
Last week, Nate became Sim Nation's first zombie Business Tycoon. Doo Peas Corporation is now mostly run by his underlings, which gives him more time to focus on his family (while the money keeps rolling in merrily, of course).
The Babbling's homelife is busy and hectic, with three adoptive children running around, but Anna wouldn't have it any other way.

BaCC Week 10: The Nadhira Family
Seeing as Bo Nadhira is the official head of the family now, the name of the Babbling household has changed accordingly. As you can see, a new house came along with the new name, as Ivy and Bo tore down the old structure completely and built a new one from the ground up. The entire ground floor is reserved for work and laboratory space (and a garage which isn't in use).
I have to say I love how their house turned out, both outside and inside. It looks quite modern (fitting, for a pair of scientists), but not reminiscent of the concrete shoebox style.

BaCC Week 10: The Greengrass Family
The Greengrasses recently spent a large chunk of their money and time on building a new farmhouse, as well as a barn to store their goods. (I've been looking for some decent farm animal downloads as well, any suggestions?)
It's only a small farmhouse, and they will probably have to expand again once the family grows larger, but for now it comfortably houses them all.

Week 10: The Picklethorpe Family
The Picklethorpes have a busy homelife, and this week was no different, so this is going to be quite a long update.
Pater Familias, Protector of the People, Captain Hero and Cheese Enthousiast Arthur Picklethorpe is enjoying his elder days. The kids are all grown up (or mostly, in Brie's case), he's ready for his retirement, and things are still humming along smoothly between him and his wife Violet. Plenty to be thankful about, and now plenty of time as well to eat lots and lots of grilled cheese sandwiches.

BaCC Week 10: The Patanjali Family
Freesia and Rajat have set off out into the wilderness together, which isn't as far away as you'd think. The little settlement of Riverside Hollow might have tamed and domesticated the landscape around it somewhat, but it's still a day's walk away from forests that haven't seen a sim in hundreds of years, maybe even longer.
Their reason to go and set up camp in the great outdoors is twofold: Freesia has been officially accepted by the Adventurer's Guild and now works fulltime for them, and needs to have a basecamp to push her explorations of the region further, while on the other hand Rajat's newfound lycanthropy isn't fully under his control yet, and it's better that he stays away from regular sims until he has sorted himself out.
It's a dangerous world out there, but Freesia Fenwick laughs in the face of danger for a living!

Picspam: More Angler's Cove Progress
I finished another block of buildings, this time in the more 'industrial' part of the town. This block houses three residential lots, and the local community center where sims can meet up and have a little fun.
