BaCC Week 2: The Babbling Family
Nate and Teddy have settled well into the new community, despite Nate's feuding with Davin Greengrass. With the town finally having electricity available, Teddy has been busier than ever tinkering with his robotic inventions. He's told his brother he's working on a surprise for him. Nate privately has his doubts about any surprises Teddy wants to foist on him. Bringing him back from the dead was a bit of a surprise as well, after all.
His little Shack'o'Bots is still regularly visited by its single customer, the Garden Club lady. Nate supposes she must have some sort of short term memory disorder, as she keeps buying the same toy robots over and over again. He's been discussing this problem with Felix, who at least seemed to understand that if their settlement wants to become a real town, they'll need to give people a reason to come here. Then Nate can start up a real business, instead of playing at one.

Nate: "Oooonee toy rrroooboot? Eeeex'lent choice ma'aaam. That be fiiifteeeeen simooooleons pleaaaase."

Teddy's been really secretive lately, and refuses to tell Nate what he's been working on. All Nate knows is that his supply of toy robots is starting to dry up, with Teddy working on this new project of his. Not that he wanted to stay in the toy robot business forever, or that the Garden Club lady could possibly use any more of them.

Nate still has his zombie moments, but in life he had a strong personality and it seems that at least part of it is slowly returning to him. He still prefers foods with a slimy, rubbery texture though, such as mac and cheese. Teddy is polite enough not to comment.

Halfway through the week, Felix called up Nate to arrange a meeting. He's had an idea to attract people to the new town and wants to discuss it with Nate, who seems to know a thing or two about economy.

Felix (on phone): "Well, and Davin studied economics in college or something, but I'd rather not get him involved, or there will be no end to the yammering."
Nate: "I heaaarrrr you theerrre."

Nate surprises Felix with a present when he comes over. He remembers a thing or two about good business relations from when he was alive, and some schmoozing never hurt anybody. Especially not if the person you're schmoozing is technically in charge of everything.

Felix: "It's a... toy robot. I couldn't have guessed! Thanks, Nate!"
Nate: "For yer little ooooonnee."
Felix: "Uhm, is it supposed to be sparking like that?"

Felix and Nate spent a busy morning working out the details of their campaign to promote the settlement and attract visitors. Hopefully even some permanent ones, as the town could really use a few more hands. They get along really well with the dial set to 'business', and they're now best friends, which unlocks community lots and townies for the settlement!

Meanwhile, Teddy's secret research has finally yielded results. With his shiny new golden Robotics badge, he's unlocked half of the requirements to enter the Science career, and can finally set to work on creating Nate's surprise present.

Teddy (offscreen): "Nate? Come in here for a second please! I've got something I want to show you!"
Nate: "Hrrrmmm?"

Now he's getting involved with Rose, Teddy's seeing the benefits of having a companion to share your life with. He also knows that Nate, being dead, doesn't exactly lie well in the market. Teddy knows that Nate will never age as well, what with being a zombie and technically dead. He, on the other hand, will one day grow old and die, and he doesn't want Nate to be left all alone. And that's when he got his brilliant idea to create a robotic companion for his brother.

Nate: "..."
Servo: "..."

Nate: "Doo'nt knoow what you werrrrre thinkin."
Teddy (offscreen): "Oh come on, I can't just leave you all alone by yourself."
Nate: "It crreeeeps me ouuutt."
Teddy: "I told you, she's a 'she', not an 'it'. I really wish you'd be nicer to Anna. Why does she creep you out anyway?"
Nate: "It not alliiiiive. It not loook huuuman eitherrrr."
Teddy: "Well, neither are you, so you should get along just fine! And I've told you this body's just temporary. I'm working on her new one as fast as I can, okay?"

Poked and prodded relentlessly by his brother, Nate reluctantly tries to get along with Servo Anna. However, she doesn't seem to be all that into him, either. Probably shouldn't have been calling her inhuman and creepy in front of her, Nate. I hear women can be quite touchy about that sort of thing.

Teddy's been working tirelessly on Anna's new body though...

... and he finishes it near the end of the week. The body just needs some recharging, and then Anna's personality can be uploaded to its new coachwork.

Anna: "*Bleep* Feeling... different? What *boop* are these luminiscent insects? Anna will attempt to capture some for *whirrrr* closer study..."

Anna: "Capture of insects *beep* failed. Feelings of... disappointment?"

Seems like Nate is a lot happier with Anna's new shape.

Nate: "Fine crrraaaftmanship, little broottherrrr. Veerrr' pretty."
Anna: "Feelings of *boop* pleased embarrasment."

Ah, romance.

Sorry for the shortish update. Nate and Teddy spent most of the week working on their robotics/business, which doesn't make for hugely interesting pictures. Hope you enjoyed it anyway, and thanks for reading :)
