MMO: Desiderata Valley
Ever since the first time I made over Desiderata Valley (which was for my first Megahood), I've been playing it as a tropical hood. Desiderata Valley originally has this completely uninspiring hood layout, and the whole 'valley inbetween the mountains on the edge of a lake/sea' thing has been done way too often. I was also missing a semi-tropical  hood. Plenty of temperate climates, a desert (Strangetown) and mountain/pine forest (Riverblossom Hills), but no palm trees!

One extra thing I did for Desiderata Valley was go into all the houses and give them the same off-white stucco job and red roofing. The effect is more Tuscan than tropical, but I like it anyway :)

Oooh, it's a tropical loveland... )

Round 1: Desiderata Valley (Part 2)
I started up a Legacy yesterday evening and played it for quite a while, and then it turned out the neighborhood was already (!) corrupted, as I had duplicate sims running around and my sim wouldn't get back from a community lot visit. Bit of a downer, that. I'm not sure what went wrong, as I put the legacy in Baskerville, which is supposed to be clean. I guess I just won't be playing around in there anymore. I really should make my own hoods anyway, but I always get stuck on building sooooo many houses and community lots from scratch. I find remodelling existent houses a lot easier than creating my own. I still really want to do a legacy, but it might have to wait for a while as I found myself struggling to choose which hood to play (Megahood? Strangely Pleasant? Legacyville? Start a BACC in Seven Sisters? Argh, the choices are too many!)

Anyways, enough rambling, and on to some Megahood goodness, where we start off with the Jocque family.

Round 1: Desiderata Valley (Part 1)
I had Gunmod's Lightning System installed while playing Desiderata Valley, which is why the pictures look different. I've uninstalled it after though, I don't think I'm a fan of it.
It surprised me, but I actually found Desiderata quite enjoyable to play, except for the Travellers and the Bell family. I did a lot of reconstruction in this hood and quite a few of the families live in new houses that I built myself, because the old ones just irritated me or looked out of place.

Starting off the Desiderata rotation is the Aspir family. I love Luis, he's a great grandad.

Desiderata Valley: Hood Makeover
Desiderata Valley has this completely uninspiring hood layout, and the whole 'valley inbetween the mountains on the edge of a lake/sea' thing has been done way too often. I was also sort of missing a semi-tropical (or at least mediterranean) hood. Plenty of temperate climates, a desert (Strangetown) and mountain/pine forest (Riverblossom Hills), but no palm trees!

So as I have no attachment whatsoever to Desiderata Valley as a hood, I decided to fill the lacuna and convert it. I've edited the terrain to make it more lagoon-y, and to put in a small town center in the road layout.
