And now for something completely different
Well, not really completely different. I have been playing the Megahood, finishing Round 1 on Pleasantview and almost done with Strangetown, and I've got a metric fsckton of pictures I would definitely been posting if I wasn't too busy playing. They'll be along at some point :)

In the meantime, circling households and only playing them for one simweek (= one season with one of my hacks), started feeling a bit... empty. I'd totally get into some households and be very reluctant to leave them, and others I was distinctly 'meh' about. (I'm looking at you here, Singles household). I could feel the start of a simming fatigue coming on, and the best way to combat that is to do something else for a while, but I didn't want to give up on playing the Megahood completely. I'd also been wanting to try out the Asylum Challenge, because people seem to have a lot of fun with that, and for an obsessive compulsive taskmaster that the simgod in me is, the thought of having 7 sims roam around uncontrolled was sort of enticing.

Long story short, I snapped up various sims with no attachments (it felt a bit cruel to tear away loving mothers/fathers from their families) that seemed to have something wrong with them somewhere, and threw them all together in  Happy Volts Asylum (cookie for who gets the reference), a lot I built myself (which is something I'm terrible at and rarely ever attempt, so that was kinda interesting).

Name: Alexandra Teatherton, previously O'Mackey
Aspiration: Pleasure
Diagnosis: Peter Pan Syndrome
Patient Bio: This patient is unable to deal with life in an adult manner. Entertains fanciful delusions of being a pirate, was found living in an abandoned shack on the beaches of Desiderata Valley. Patient has no sense of responsibility  and will run away from her problems instead of facing them.

Name: Jessica Landgraab, née Peterson
Aspiration: Fortune
Diagnosis: Severe Depression
Patient Bio: The patient's current state was most likely brought on by the death of her millionaire playboy husband, Malcolm Landgraab IV. Patient seems unable to cope with the prospect of having to work for a living, having been 'cheated out of her inheritance' by the Landgraab family's superior lawyers.

Name: Daniel Pleasant
Aspiration: Romance
Diagnosis: Woohoo Addiction
Patient Bio: Patient has been commited after having been thrown out of the house by Kaylynn Long, previously Pleasant, née Langerak. This happened after the patient had already been shown the door by his first wife, Mary-Sue Pleasant. Patient has lost his family, home, standing in the community and self respect due to his addiction.

Name: Tara Kat
Aspiration: Family
Diagnosis: Mulier Felinae, or Crazy Cat Lady Syndrome.
Patient Bio: Patient seems to have inherited condition from her mother. Patient has become abnormally attached to her cats and fears leaving the house because she does not want to leave them alone. This severely inhibits her social life, partly because she never goes out and partly because she thought it a good idea to only have one litterbox for her entire collection of cats. Some of our wardens that helped in the patient's commitment are still in therapy.

Name: Gabriel Green
Aspiration: Knowledge
Diagnosis: Depression and Obsessive Compulsive Behaviour.
Patient Bio: Patient's current condition has been brought on by multiple rejections by his crush, Samantha Cordial. Patient was unable to cope with said rejection and developed stalker-like behaviour. Patient commited on request by the court, which also gave him a restraining order against Ms. Cordial.

Name: Erin Beaker
Aspiration: Popularity
Diagnosis: Schizophrenia
Patient Bio: Patient hears voices and is convinced she posesses psychic abilities. Patient claims to be able to commune with the dead, and to 'bring them back to life, if only I can make it to Cult Leader'. Patient obviously suffers from severe delusions and auditory as well as visual hallucinations.

Name: Unable to identify. Patient goes by nomiker 'Nervous Subject'.
Aspiration: Grilled Cheese
Diagnosis: Severe Personality Issues.
Patient Bio: Patient has been commited by concerned neighbor. He appears to have been subjected to a variety of distressing and cruel experiments, violently altering his personality. Patient is very anxious and socially inept. An attempt to cure the patient's issues left him with a curious fondness of Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.

And last but not least, my playable sim for this challenge:

Name: Cyd Roseland
Aspiration: Knowledge, LTW: Become Hand of Poseidon
Diagnosis: Aspiration Failure
Patient Bio: Patient seems to be clean-living young man with a keen disposition. Patient commited himself after affair with a Pleasantview widow was broken up, claiming he needed some quiet time to think. Medical personnel might have to look into indications of delusional behaviour, as patient seems to think said break up was caused by the widow's deceased husband coming back to life.

Note: Various bits in these descriptions come from actual gameplay, like Malcolm Landgraab being killed by electrocution, Cyd's affair with Brandi Broke, whose husband got resurrected, the trials and woes of Gabriel Green in his attempts to woo Samantha Cordial, and Daniel Pleasant being kicked out of the house by Mary-Sue and then Kaylynn shortly after. Other bits I just pulled from Eaxis canon or character bios, like the Nervous Subject thing and Erin Beaker thinking she's psychic.

I did change Alexandra's aspiration to Pleasure and Nervous' to Grilled Cheese, because like that I had all 7 aspirations in the asylum, with one double (Cyd's). It seemed fitting for both of them, anyway.

I'm not following the Asylum Challenge to the letter, I've got a few multiple skilling items, and one sink in the kitchen as well as in the bathroom (I've got a hack that lets sims only wash dishes in the kitchen). Apart from that I tend to stick to it as closely as I can. Aging will be off for the duration of the challenge, so the cured patients can slip back into their lives after the challenge is over.

 If they survive that is.
