Week 9: The Babbling Family
Last week Theodore introduced his daughter Ivy to the only other alien hybrid in town, Bo Nadhira. He's hoping that bringing them together could be the start of introducing a stable alien hybrid population on this planet.

Ivy and Bo have become fast friends during the time they've spent together, as they're both questing for more knowledge. Ivy has taken on the medical care of Riverside Hollow and is ever looking for new cures and treatments, while Bo is an aspiring scientist whose interests range from space travel to robotics.

Bo has really come to like Ivy. A lot. As in: flowers, candles, possible procreation, and all that.

He's slowly trying to woo her, but so far she's been holding back. Ivy is painfully shy, even more so than her dad (she's only got 1 outgoing point) and everytime Bo turns the conversation to something non-theoretical, she stammers and blushes and gets too flustered to look at him.

Theodore has been tutoring Bo, as he's expressed interest in becoming a scientist and working in the brand-new Research Facility that has been built recently. Teddy is very excited about having an assistant, and about having Bo's help in his alien hybrid population project. Bo is half-alien, like Teddy, and likewise interested in the preservation of his species.

Theodore: "It's of the utmost importance that we try to keep the alien genetics as pure as possible, but we can't risk inbreeding, either. We'll have to search for more candidates in other cities. It will be a considerable while before we can fund a proper road network to SimCity though, so that might be problematic. Now, I've finished your and Ivy's bloodtests, and I think any of your offspring would have a decent chance of getting a good portion of alien genetics. We'll have to..."
Bo: "Whoa whoa, time out for a second!"

Bo: "Listen, Theodore, I'm all for the, uhm... procreation project with your daughter. *coughs* But to be honest, I don't really know how to approach her about it. I mean, I really like her, and I think she likes me as well, but we don't seem to get any further than discussing the Sim City Medical Journal together."

Theodore: "Well, I don't have that much experience with chasing the ladies, I'm afraid. When Rose and I were courting, she was the one pursuing me. Haha, I remember she was absolutely relentless, dodging around Lily - may she rest in peace - all the time so we could have some privacy to..."
Bo: "Right, right. But for me and Ivy..?"
Theodore: "Hmmm. Rose always made it very clear to me what her intentions were. I think that's what first attracted me to her. Have you just told Ivy how you feel about her?"
Bo: "Well, no. I mean, it's not like I'm all 'she's my One True Love' or anything. I'd just like to give us a chance."
Theodore: Give it a shot, I say. And if not, there's always artificial insimination!"
Bo: "You really are a romantic at heart, aren't you?"

Unaware of her father and friend discussing her future together, Ivy has been working day and night to become the best doctor she can be for the town. All that work has finally paid off, as Felix was able to scrape together enough funds to build a medical center. She'll have to manage it all by herself, a heavy responsibility for such a young sim.

Rose keeps herself out of Teddy and Bo's plotting, as she's busy enough with the town's upkeep and being called out to fix other sim's mechanical and electronical problems.

The robots Teddy built when he first came to the town are getting old and have become prone to malfunctioning lately. Repairing them is taking up more and more of her time.

Nobody has heard of the Riverside Burglar recently, not since she was alledgedly chased off by Stephen Withergrass when she tried to break into his house.

Nevertheless, it's probably not a bad idea to keep their security in good condition.

Some sims never learn, after all.

Her evenings are spent together with Teddy, who she still adores as much as when they first got together. She really hopes that Ivy can find the same sort of happiness, but worries that starting a relationship with Bo over a science project would not be the best choice for her daughter.

Bo, on the other hand, hasn't been thinking of Ivy as a project anymore. She's cute, intelligent, and really quite funny when she opens up. Time to put Theodore's advice to the test, then.

Bo: "Hey, the stars are absolutely beautiful this time of the year. If you like, we could go outside and I could point out the galaxy where our alien ancestors come from?"
Ivy: "Uhm... okay. Sure. That sounds nice."

Ivy: "Wh-what are you..."

Bo Nadhira, Smooth Operator.

Once he made his motives clear, Ivy seems happy enough to settle into a relationship with Bo.

Not so shy anymore now, are we?

Bo: "I'd really like to meet the rest of your family, Ivy. Why don't we throw a party and invite them all?"
Rose: "That sounds like a lovely idea, dear. Don't you think, Teddy?"
Theodore: "Hmm? What? Yes! A party to celebrate the union of alien genetics. Splendid!"
Ivy: "Ugh, dad..."

The whole extended family gets invited over, and Bo immediately hits it off with Anna.

Bo: "Is it true that Theodore built you with the metal he recovered from the truck that brought the settlers here?"
Anna: "Anna hadn't been informed of *bloop* that. Explains why Anna sometimes gets the urge to run down the street very fast *beep*"

The ingredients of a good party: sims, conversation, and copious amounts of alcohol.

Freesia: "Once I'm done discovering everything about this region, I think I'll build a ship and sail down the river."
Flora: "Well, that museum you're making me build isn't going to fill itself. Maybe you should concentrate on that for a while?"
Freesia: "Never fear sister. There's enough artefacts in this area to fill it up alone, and I'll bring you back plenty of stuff from foreign parts. You'll see!"
Felix: "You just want to play pirate and go plundering, don't you."
Freesia: "Yaarrrr!"

Bo has been seated at the Awkward Young Men table, starring Fox Fenwick and Wensleydale Picklethorpe.

Gratuitous cute shot for the Fox fans out there :)

The ice is broken soon enough with the type of stories that young male sim will indulge in while together.

Fox: "I swear to you, she has these huuuuuuuuuge..."
Felix (off-screen): "Fox!"
Fox: "... eyes. Loveliest eyes, my Hanners has."

Ivy and Bo closed off the evening with some slow dancing, chasing everyone away with their sickeningly sweet display of affection.

Teddy: "I'm trying to eat in here, you know!"

The following night, Bo took Ivy out for dinner in the newly opened Garden of Eatin'.

Hannah: "Hey Ivy, great to see you again! So what Fox tells me is true? You've found yourself a gentleman of your own?"

After Ivy rid herself of Hannah's gawking at Bo, they settled down for dinner.

Ivy: "Bo? You're leaning in your food with your elbow."
Bo: "Eh? Splendid. Uhm. Ivy, the reason I asked you out for dinner..."
Ivy: "You're going to get your coat all mucky. Those sauce stains are really hard to get out."
Bo: "Yes yes, marvellous. What I was going to say is..."

Bo: "Would you marry... me?"

That looks like a yes to me.

The deal was sealed after they got home.

Ivy: "Mmmh... What's that noise downstairs?"
Bo: "I can't hear anything, sweetmint."

Grim Reaper: "YES, A BATHROOM, OF ALL PLACES. I DON'T MAKE THE RULES, ETCETERA. ARE YOU COMING OR NOT?"
