Pater Familias, Protector of the People, Captain Hero and Cheese Enthousiast Arthur Picklethorpe is enjoying his elder days. The kids are all grown up (or mostly, in Brie's case), he's ready for his retirement, and things are still humming along smoothly between him and his wife Violet. Plenty to be thankful about, and now plenty of time as well to eat lots and lots of grilled cheese sandwiches.

Violet has an artistic eye, and deft hands that can sew just about anything. Her little shop, Sew Far Sew Good, just about breaks even, but as she's not in it for the money, she's happy enough that she can keep it running.
Violet: "I'll have to make you some more shirts soon. You've gotten fatter again."

Wensleydale, Arthur and Violet's eldest, has embarked on a career in the culinary arts with his restaurant The Garden of Eatin'. He's been looking for a nice girl to settle down with as well, but so far none of the ladies of Riverside Hollow has fallen for his charms.
Wensleydale: "It's not fat, it's yummy goodness storage space. Mmm-mmm."

Rebellious teen Brie suffered for the lack of kids her own age in town, and has been trying to impress the older sims by becoming the queen of gossip and instigating drama. Her BFF is Riana Quisenberry, Arthur's sidekick and soon-to-be head of the police force.
Brie is currently working as a beginning professional gamer, and works on her paintings in her spare time.

Arthur's last day as Captain Hero has dawned. It's not that he has gotten tired of fighting crime (in his trademark ineffective manner), it's that his knees are creaking and his back is twanging and he's gotten half-deaf in one ear. And, frankly, hardly anyone's impressed with a superhero whose supercry of choice goes a bit like...

Arthur: "My lumbagoooooo!"

Yes, it's time for Arthur to honourably throw his cheese-print towel in the ring.
Arthur: "Yes, citizen! This is your Captain Hero speaking. This is just a courtesy phonecall to let you know that from now on you should contact Riana Quisenberry for all your crimefighting needs. Have no fear, for while I am retiring, the spirit of Captain Hero will live on for evermore!"

Wensleydale has been getting quite close to townie Jade Wiggins, who has come to dine in his restaurant suspiciously often. He invited her over to his house so the poor thing doesn't go broke on restaurant bills just for having an excuse to chat with him.

And Wensley has more in mind than just chatting, anyway.

Success! Congratulations on your first girlfriend, Wensleydale. He's definitely a bit of a late bloomer.

He immediately rolled the want to get married. Maybe it's a bit soon for that though, hmm? Don't want to scare off the young lady by being over-eager. That, and you met her two days ago.
I'm always amused looking at Wensley's wants: cook something, talk about cooking, blog about cooking, and he fears burning his food (as well as some fears relating to Jade, aww). Single-track mind.

Brie has been doing well in school lately. Her grades have really picked up since Ryan and Roxanne Button grew up into teens. The company of her peers is clearly doing her some good.

She has nearly maxed the Creativity skill as well, often working on her paintings until late at night in the hobbyshed behind the house.

She even managed to get promoted!

She might not look it here, but Brie has been looking forward to becoming an adult for ages. She can't wait to be taken seriously by the older sims of Riverside Hollow, move out on her own and finally enter the dating scene (highschool boys were so not interesting, aside from mostly not being there at all).

Some confetti and a new sundress, and Brie joins the ranks of adults!

Here's what she looks like with her hair out of her trademark braids: simply stunning. Brie is a Pleasure sim (like her mother) with the LTW of becoming a Game Designer. She is very neat, outgoing, playful and nice, but extremely lazy.

Arthur: "Every party needs some grilled cheese. Nom nom nom..."

Speaking of Arthur, he's been keeping busy in his retirement. He agreed to grow some fresh vegetables for Wensleydale, since Cordelia Greengrass has started charging for her produce, and Wensley can keep his prices at the restaurant low by using his own ingredients.

He also helps out in his wife's shop, playing cashier and salesman while Violet crafts her curtains, quilts and teddybears.

Arthur: "Oh, we can definitely make some babyclothes for the new baby. Do you know if it's going to be a girl or a boy yet?"
Hannah: "We've decided to be surprised. Something unisex would be lovely."
Arthur: "I'll let Violet know, she'll want to get started as soon as she can."

Wensleydale keeps busy in his kitchen, as The Garden of Eatin' has been picking up more and more clientele lately.

At this rate, he'll have to hire a new waitress soon. Erica does a great job, but she can't be everywhere at once.

Brie? What are you calling the new mailman for?

I am shocked and appalled.

That look says enough, I think. Brie placed a booty call to the new mailman, Gabriël Clearwater (who I'd just introduced into town to replace Adam. If he looks a bit familiar: he's been bred using a couple of sixamsims' sims.)

He's not raising any complaints, it seems.

Well, uhm. Not exactly what I had in mind for Brie (she's bisexual, and I was actually on the lookout for a nice girl for her), but when three bolts happen, there's nothing I could possibly do about it without feeling wretched.
Let's see if they can translate the crazy chemistry to something more permanent. Brie is a Pleasure sim after all, and commitment isn't something she has on the forefront of her mind.

Wensleydale, on the other hand, is all about commitment.
Wensley: "Jade? Uhm, yes, I was wondering if you'd like to go out for dinner with me? No no, not at my own restaurant, that'd be a bit... weird. I was thinking about trying out the buffet at the Cultural Center."

Wensleydale: "Well, it's not homemade food of course, but I quite liked the salad. The pineseeds worked very nicely with the... anyway. I arranged this date because there's something I wanted to say. Well, to ask. What I mean is, uhm."

Wensley: "Wouldyoubecomemylawfulweddedwifeifyoudon'tmind?"
Ahh, wedding proposals. The romance, the atmosphere, the sheer naked terror of the proposer...

Jade: "It's so shiny!"

Wensleydale took Jade home to introduce her to his parents after the engagement dinner, but Violet didn't want much to do with Jade at first.
Violet: "You're the harridan stealing away my precious little boy?! I don't want to hear anything you've got to say, you strumpet!"

Luckily, Arthur managed to disarm the situation uncharacteristically well.
Arthur: "Come now, my little gorgonzola. You want the best for our boy, don't you? Just give her a chance, look at how happy she makes him."
Violet: "Hmmpf. Maybe."

Arthur gets along happily with Jade, mainly because she's the only sim he's ever managed to beat in a videogame.

Jade moved in in preparation of her wedding with Wensleydale, allowing me a look at her stats. She has a pretty well-balanced personality, and is quite playful (Neat 5, Outgoing 5, Lazy 3, Playful 8, Grouchy 4). She is a Family sim, like Wensleydale, and her LTW is to have three grandchildren.
She works in the Medical career, and seeing as Ivy built the Riverside General Hospital last week, I let her keep her job. Besides, she gets to go to work in an ambulance. How cool is that?
With Jade moving in, the house and shed were really getting too small to house everyone, so the Picklethorpe residence was expanded.

The downstairs stayed pretty much the same, but with a larger dining area and some space in front of the stereo for dancing.

The upstairs saw the addition of two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Seeing as everyone can now sleep in the house, the shed has been converted back into hobbyshed.

Brie: "I think I prefered sleeping in the shed, at least it was bigger than this shoebox!"
Oh shush, you've been rolling wants to move out anyway. This is just a temporary solution.

Wensleydale: "Brriiiiiieeeee? Who's this strange young man at the table eating my soup?"
Gabriël: "Really great soup, too! Best soup I ever had, in fact!"
Wensleydale: "Oh, well I... thank you! Have another bowl?"

Brie and Gabriël have been seeing a lot of eachother lately, mostly through casual woohoo hook-ups, but they're coming to realise they just enjoy being together as well.
Gabriël: "Well, if you want to move out of your parent's house, why not come live with me?"
Brie: "Seriously? You want to live together with your woohoo-buddy?"
Gabriël: "I'm okay with it if you're okay with it."

Brie: "Ah, why the hell not. I'll pack my bags!"

And so, waved out by Wensleydale in his underpants, Brie and Gabriël left for greener pastures.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed! :)
