Strangely Pleasant: Strangetown (Round 2.1)
I really apologise if you guys get tired of me spamming your friendslists every day with updates :( Play is just moving along quickly, and I don't want to be updating Round 2 while I'm already playing Round 4 or so, because I'll have forgotten most of the story by then already. I'm sure the update ratio will slow down sooner or later.

The Curious Brothers

ACR treated me on some romance when I first opened up the lot, as Lazlo and Erin decided to become roommates in the stricter sense of the word. I'm pretty pleased with this pairing, they seem to go together rather well. Better than Lazlo and Crystal Vu, anyways.

Birthday time for Percy! (Perseus sounds rather stuffy for a toddler). He turned out very cute, plus he has the black alien eyes!

Erin earns her board with minding the kids while Pascal and Lazlo are out at work during the day. Her job in the paranormal career is on the graveyard shift, and by that time the brothers are back home again. No nanny needed to keep the social worker away.

Pascal makes sure he spends enough time with his children as well. I'm still sort of looking around for a life partner for him, but there's noone that really springs to mind, and he's happy enough being a single dad, so I might just leave it at that.

The house is slowly getting more furnished and decorated as the adults bring in the bacon. This is the view on the little hallway before the living room.

Orion's room has been redecorated to reflect his interests in science and outer space. He's already maxed out the logic skill thanks to smart milk and his obsession with the telescope.

He's a bit of a prodigy, but still not smart enough not to poke himself in the eye with his pen.

Time for another birthday, as Orion transitions into a teen! He's a Knowledge sim, obviously, and his LTW is to reach the top of the Oceanography career. Bit of an odd want for a Sim who's never seen anything but the desert, or maybe he'd just like a change of scenery?

Orion after his makeover. I checked his family tree to see who is listed as his parent besides Pascal, but he only has Pascal listed as a parent, much like if he were adopted. I'm not really sure what's up with this, or whose DNA he actually has.

Orion: "Heeeey! I'm pretty damn good-looking, if I do say so myself!"

It's a big day for Lazlo as well, as he's preparing to say farewell to his bachelor days.

She loves it!

The Curious house is definitely large enough to sustain two families, so Lazlo and Erin won't be moving out into their own place. My 'hood will soon be filled up by Curiouses as it is.

Perseus grew up well, watched by his dad and big brother. I swear there was cake involved in this, it's probably just blocked by Orion. Ahem.

Percy's a really active kid, rolling wants to jump rope all the frikkin time. He's already got 5 body skill points without me even trying.

He's also really outgoing, and loves hanging around with everyone who sets foot on the Curious lot. From this angle you can see that he's got Pascal's nose :)

Orion and Perseus get along quite well, despite their wildly different personalities. Not a lot of pics of the adults in this update, because they mostly spent their time working on their careers, and were therefor not very interesting to document.

Olive Specter

Olive expanded her portfolio with two burglars and a maid. She had a rather bigger project in mind than just meeting Grim this time.

So when next time he came knocking, she had plenty more life energy to offer up.

After all was said and done, Olive had been transformed into a vampire. Finally fit of mind and limb again, she said farewell to her house and ghosts, and disappeared into the night, where she'd stalk the Strangely Pleasant sims forever more.

(Translate: Olive does work better as a story character than she does as a playable sim. I played her until she'd maxed her LTW (max out 5 skills), made her into a vampire, and set her loose in the neighbourhood as a townie. She now stalks around in the neighbourhood after dark, and steals any newspapers that have been left outside. I like to imagine my sims telling stories of her to their children, and warning them not to go outside alone when it's dark, or Olive Specter might come to steal them away!)

The Smiths

Chloe and Lola weren't terribly interesting to play on their own, falling in a rut of working on their careers and having the same people over for parties. With Johnny off to college, there were two spare bedrooms in the Smith house, so I had the twins move in with their dad and his family.

P.T.'s more than happy to have them around, and Jenny and Jill have been real good sports about it as well.

Jill chose Popularity as her aspiration when she grew up, just like her big brother, and has been busy making friends and partying. Beau Broke is a good friend of hers, and Buck Grunt, He of the Cheesy Grin, is more in the house than out. You're going to end up with Grilled Cheese as your aspiration if you're not careful, Buck.

Another close friend of Jill's is Lucy Burb, who she shares her love of dancing with.

Johnny still drops by whenever there's a party going :)

Chloe's circle of friends still drops by occasionally as well, to fulfill her party wants.

Lola occupies herself with working hard, and reading when she needs time to wind down. She doesn't interact that much with the rest of the household, preferring to keep herself confined in her room most of the time. Chloe does try to drag her out when she's got a party going, but Lola is just not all that interested in people, it seems.

Jenny still works hard on her skills as well. She'll be an elder soon, and she's not that far up the career ladder yet seeing as I had some bad luck with chancecards. It would be great if she manages to make it, but I've got my doubts.

Chloe's started dating some men recently, when she started rolling Romance wants again. The Matchmaker Service provided her with Abe Cho, and seeing as I'd just attached a Downtown to the hood, Chloe took him out for a testdrive.

Dancing...

Dining...

Taking home some mementos...

... and getting whacked around the head by Mrs. Crumplebottom's purse. All the ingredients of a good date were present, and Chloe got a dreamdate out of it.

Aside from the lovely flowers, she was presented with a blue china vase the day after. Sweet :)

Not wanting to be left behind (and because she was getting rather lonely, shacked up in her bedroom all day), Lola called over the gypsy for a date as well. She was matched up with one Amin Sims, a townie. Thank goodness it wasn't a sodding professor again, since those guys and girls have been generated, it's all the matchmaker presents my sims with nowadays. If anyone knows of a mod that prevents the gypsy from picking professors as a match, I'd be eternally grateful if you'd let me know!

Amin seems to be the perfect match for Lola. They've got three (!) bolts together, and were smooching in no time.

Chloe sort of fancied Amin as well, and tried her luck when Lola wandered off to the bathroom for a few minutes. Amin stayed politely friendly, but no more than that. Good lad!

Someone's a bad sport :p

Jill's been taking over her father's cooking duties, as she wants to be a Celebrity Chef some day. She still has a lot to learn though.

Luckily, that fulfilled want for Fire Prevention studies came in handy.

P.T. and Jenny being all cuddly. I don't give these two nearly enough screentime, I know, but there's so many other things going on that affect neighbourhood continuity that they tend to fall a bit by the wayside.

Time for Jill to move into university.

P.T.: "Make sure to ring every weekend, alright honey? And keep an eye on your brother for me!"

Lola moves fast when she has to. She popped the question while Jenny delivered a classy touch to the setting.

Jenny: "Not impressed. That looks like cubic zirconia to me. When P.T. proposed to me, the ring had three diamonds that he'd personally compressed for me out of carbon in the heart of a star."

You'll have to forgive her for being a bit crotchety, as she was close to transitioning to an elder, with retirement still a distant dream up ahead. P.T. threw her a party anyway, and invited some of her friends to help liven up the occasion.

He has no problems cheering her up, even if he has to be a bit silly to achieve that mission.

A good time was had by all, with their friendly neighbourhood fireman dropping in to keep an eye on the proceedings. I've no idea how or why he was there -_-

Fireman: "If you're feeling a bit hot dancing, I want you to step aside until you've cooled off. No spontaneous combustion on MY watch!"

The Loners

Dina is still working her way up the Show Business career ladder, which means she gets to parade around in outfits like these. She doesn't look terribly impressed.

Ajay gets to wear much better things to work. Not that he can talk about his job with his friends, which they compensate for by watching sports on the tv all evening.

John: "We did? A Roof Raiser?"
Pascal: "Eh? What's going on?"
Brandon: "Durrrrrrr."

There must be some really questionable things going on in Strangetown, judging by Ajay's expression.

Two Fortune sims equals lots of time skilling. Dina is writing a novel about her humiliating experiences in show business, while Ajay brushes up his mechanical skills.

Ajay: "So showers and bathtubs are fixed by beating on them with a wrench? I never knew!"

Next update: the Beakers, the Grunts and the Lostes. Thanks for reading! :)

The fish/sharks on Orion's shirt are an amazing touch for a budding oceanographer! And making Olive a townie is a great idea, I think it'd be brilliant to have her pop up Downtown all the time! :P She is really a story character, you're right, rather than a playable!

I'm glad you noticed the fish ;) I do like seeing Olive out and about during nighttime when playing the other families, it brings a certain sinister element to my game ^^

Aw, Erin and Lazlo are so cute! And you had such an awesome idea turning Olive into a townie... Wven though I am not sure the inhabitants of your megahood will enjoy her kiking their bins and stealing their newspapers!
And Dina looks amazing wearing that outfit, I laughed so much at her expression! X)
