I've been playing around with a fresh copy of the Megahood, giving the Maxis hoods makeovers (I'm a sucker for a hood makeover, in case you couldn't tell yet.) There is a purpose to this (besides that it's just plain fun!), and it isn't to restart the Megahood (I'm quite happy with Strangely Pleasant for the time being). But in case it's just one of those projects that I start setting up but never actually go through with, I won't share what just yet :)
I'll probably do makeovers of all the characters as well at some point. It's a fun interlude from actually playing the game, especially right now. (I've been ill a lot recently, and am in another bout at the moment. I can't do a lot more than sit in front of the PC doing things that don't require a lot of focus, and right now actually playing takes too much concentration.)
Pleasantview

More or less the same as the 'standard' Pleasantview layout/decoration I use.

I kept the Pleasantview community lots, and the little condos this time around. You can also see Pleasantview Elementary School and its playground.

The industrial area, which includes a roller rink, Pleasantview Hospital, the police station, a burgerjoint and the headquarters of SimCo, Pleasantview's leading business.

A view of Pleasant Farm, where the Pleasants live. It used to be the Oldies', but they moved to a smaller house and let Mary-Sue have it.

Camp Oakhill, the local military camp.
Strangetown

Strangetown also uses more or less the same layout as it does in the Strangely Pleasant hood. I converted some of the barracks into apartment lots, because they're stupidly big (and expensive) for families that are just starting out. The upstairs and downstairs are seperate apartments now.
The 'Abandoned Government Facility' has been expanded with more ruined buildings. As you can see, work is still in progress to safely remove the remains of an experiment that caused the facility to be abandoned.

A view of the town center. I've got it just the way I want it this time round. Some of the little prefab houses have been updated with a second floor, to accomodate larger families. The Singles live in one of those.

Closer look at the town center. The open area next to the fastfood joint is a digsite with dinosaur remains in it (you can't see it very well from here though.) There's some townhouses, the police department and a local business tower, a school, a hospital and the Monorail Terminal where Sims can start their journey to SimCity.

Different angle. I gave the Smiths a watertower behind their house, as they need to get all that water to keep their garden lush from somewhere.
Veronaville

The Monty side of the hood. I converted the Old Silo you can see in the foreground to a community lot. It's now a little park, perfect to take the kids on a playdate.

The villa from the housebin fits in just right around here. There's not many houses that qualify for the families that are just starting out though, so at the moment all the Monties are bunged together in Patrizio's Llama farm.

The Capp side. I'm trying to keep the farm theme going.

I moved the houses that were sat right on the edge of the canal to the open space near the market thingie. I don't really enjoy those two-in-one houses in Veronaville, but they do look very good when put together like that.
Belladonna Cove

The only thing I really changed was the city-type-area, and the introduction of Belladonna High at the left side of the picture. They've got their own football field and everything.

Riverblossom Hills

I didn't really touch Riverblossom Hills, aside from some extra decorations and the introduction of their own elementary school.

The McGregor Farm.

I don't know if you've ever seen that little island thing in the river? It's on the edge of the map, and covered with palm trees and some Easter Island head. Totally not befitting the climate I have in mind for Riverblossom Hills, so it got a different landmark and trees.
Desiderata Valley

I reshuffled the houses and changed the terrain to the cove-type one I made for my previous Megahood. Aside from that, not a lot has changed.

I'd never been inside that Kiddie Kare Kastle community lot before, but it had pinetrees in it, which doesn't suit the warm, medi-terranean/ vaguely tropical climate I have in mind for Desiderata Valley. It didn't look great, so I gave it a quick makeover:

I didn't touch Downtown or Bluewater Village yet, so no pictures of those. :)
