Nimi4's Neighbourhood Skies
So as you could read here, I've been helping out [livejournal.com profile] nimi4 with testing her new Neighbourhood Sky Objects :) Well, testing being a big word, as I mostly put them in my game and drooled a lot over them. And took some pictures, too.

I need these in my game! The horizons are amazing, the 'hoods look so much better when they're not just floating blocks in the sky!

This one is my absolute favourite! http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz175/Nepheris/Nimi4%20Sky%20Object/Image255.jpg

They really are, the difference is simply astounding. I love the Veronaville pics best as well :)

I think those are great... And by the way I love your game (I've added you (: ).
Only a question: are those sky objects very heavy? I play on a very old and slow laptop so I have to cut my downloads as much as possible!

They're about 1.5 MB in filesize each, if that's what your asking. As for how heavy they are to load in game, I really couldn't tell you. I've got a rather fast pc which chugs through anything without many problems, so I've got no way to compare it with systems with lower specs.

Out of curiousity, what are your computer's specs, if you don't mind me asking? Your photos are gorgeous! I'm looking into getting a new computer and I want to make sure Sims will look the way I'd like it -- I've never had a computer powerful enough to handle reflections in the water before!

I'm no computer whiz, but I ran the dxdiag and these are my specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9505 @ 2.83GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series

Hope that makes sense to you :) If you need any more info, just ask!

is there a sky that would be fitting for an apocalyptic world? *curious*

(mind you, the reddish one for Strangetown could work...)

Psychosim actually made an apocalyptic sky. In fact it's his/her objects that nimi4 recoloured :) You can find it here: http://psychosim.livejournal.com/4708.html#cutid1

I already told you that I adore the pictures :D W's favourite is my favourite as well, I think!

Regarding filesize, the files weren't compressorized (because they're testing files) - I'll add a note in the download post, but anyone can compress them themselves if they wish. It's mostly the huge texture that makes it so large; the object is so big that the texture is very stretched, so it has to be on the larger side.

I'm glad people are enthusiastic about it, as well!
