BaCC Week 3: The Picklethorpe/Lovelace Family
Seeing as this household got merged halfway through the week, it's a double update for today :) Took me bloody ages to get done as well, Photobucket is getting increasingly less cooperative lately...

Arthur does just swimmingly in the community. He's found acceptance, friendship, a job, and he thinks Violet sort of considers herself his girlfriend nowadays. He's happy enough about that, but not entirely sure what he's expected to do about it.

Serenading her seems to have positive results, at any rate.

Arthur: "~~ When the mooon hits your eeeye like a big ball of cheeeeese, that's amoooreeee! ~~"
Violet: *swoon*

At least she's happy enough to listen to him talk about Grilled Cheese. To Arthur, that's a sure sign that he's finally found his soulmate.

Arthur: "Come here, my little piece of Gorgonzola..."

Smooth :D

I'm not sure if you can see it well in this picture, but during their date, Violet rolled the want to marry Arthur. (She skipped wanting to get engaged - maybe she's in the mood to elope?) That settles it, Violet and Arthur are now officially a couple :)

Back at the Lovelace residence, Violet has decided she'll try and make some money writing restaurant guides. They sell very badly, probably because she's making them all up. There are no restaurants in town, after all. Still, some morons will buy anything and she does get some meagre royalties off them.

Violet also took Grilled Cheese as her secondary aspiration, in order to understand Arthur better. They spend many a happy hour together sampling different sorts of grilled cheese sandwiches. It's a good thing they've both got a great metabolism.

Arthur: "It seems a bit silly to keep visiting eachother like this. We could, uhm, you know."
Violet: "Could what?"
Arthur: "Uhmm... well, if you wanted to, you could maybe, you know. M-move in with me?"

Arthur's little house needed a few extensions to make it fit for two people to live in.

The little shack at the back of the house serves as a place to store the games Violet brought along. What with remodelling the house, the couple's joint funds have been depleted, and Arthur's salary alone isn't going to fund the clothing store that Violet wants to open. So Violet has been set up with all the requirements she'll need to get a job in the Gamer career.

Violet practising her leet skills. :B

Her sewing machine was set up in the new bedroom. Here, she's at work crafting a new outfit that Rose requested. You'll see it in one of the next updates :)

Arthur: "I know Nate, this is the third time this week Davin's stolen your newspaper. I'm really sorry but... What? No, of course I don't have any prejudices just because you're undea... ALLRIGHT, just because you're 'differently alive', you just have to understand that there's very little that I can... I'm sure you didn't mean that Nate, I'm going to hang up now and let you cool off, allright? I'll have a word with Felix and I'm sure that... NATE! Language!"

Arthur's got a tough job.

Violet and Arthur make a good team. While Arthur does his best to clean up the garden, raking up all the leaves in neat little piles...

...Violet takes it on herself to play around in them the next morning :)

Violet: "Wheeeeee!"

Arthur: "Uhm. Violet... You make me so happy. You... you are the delicious, molten cheese to my grilled toast."

Arthur: "And there's something I've been m-meaning to ask you..."

Arthur: "Violet Lovelace..."

Arthur: "Would you marry me?"

Of course she would ^^

Getting fired on your second day of work? I guess the Gamer career just wasn't her thing.

At least Violet finds comfort in Arthur's arms. Or well, by having him in her arms. It's pretty clear who wears the pants in this relationship. Not that Arthur minds in the slightest :D

Ahw, Cheesy Love...

Next up: The Greengrass Family! Hope you enjoyed the update :)

Oh, I hadn't considered using the visitor controller to block the townies - that's actually a good idea. However when I used it I found some NPC's get banned from a lot by default, so you have to pull it out on every single lot to set the allow/not allow. I might give it another whirl, though.

I don't play with creatures enough, so I made the 50/50 chance to get some variety ^^ Really a matter of taste.

I don't really use pet careers either, but in case anyone wants em, they're there.

I like the early stage money sources, more added realism :) If you want to go for really really pernickity realism I guess you could prohibit selling into nowhere altogether, but with so few customers at the start that'd be really quite difficult. Just different flavours of playing.

Limiting the purchase of buy mode items is another great idea, but I'm not entirely sure how I could put that in ruleformat :) I really like it though.

Nice to hear about your take on it, so thanks! :)

Yes, I had to set up the visitor controller on each lot but as there were only five, and I set up the lot sync timer and made sure I had my bat box and sim blender on each lot too, it didn't take too long. It probably would have taken me longer to fiddle about with the clean templates, so I think of it as my lazy girl option :)

Yes, the limiting of buy mode would be difficult to include as a rule. Maybe allowing one day a week for purchases and limiting items to those in the wants panel on the given day? I don't know, I think you're right, it should be more of a player decision based on gameplay style.

Thanks for taking the time to post the rules and updates on your BaCC. I bet you've inspired quite a lot of people to have a go :)
