BaCC Week 3: The Other Babbling Family
Nate and Anna have moved out into a house of their own. There just wasn't enough space in the old house, what with Ivy and Rose moving in with Teddy.
Teddy has been a bit anxious about Nate moving out, but Nate pointed out that he is the older brother around here. He can take care of himself just fine. It's not because he's differently alive that he's the equivalent of a child that needs looking after. Maybe it was like that the first months after he came back from the dead, but he feels a lot more like his old self nowadays.

Besides, having his own house means more privacy for some hot robot smooching.

Nate has started up a new homebusiness, this one catering to the new visitors that the town is getting nowadays. Nate is currently the only owner of a television in town, and has decided to charge a small fee for anyone that wants to come inside and veg out in front of the screen for a while after a long day of adventuring.

Anna has taken it on herself to convince potential customers that some quality time in front of the television is exactly what they need.

Anna: "...that's nine *beep* channels, plus a nice, squishy couch to sit back and relax in."
Townie: "Hmmm... how squishy would you say this couch is?"
Anna: "Oh, definitely squishy *bzzzt*. So squishy, you might need assistance to extract yourself from its bear-like embrace."

The concept seems to work pretty well, even if they don't earn a lot of money from the low entrance fees. That's not important though, getting customer stars is. With those, the business will go up in ranks and Anna and Nate will get the monetary perks that comes with it, so they can save up to start a proper business in Spring.

One of the customers tried to set up Anna with a blind date, and she accepted. (Dates don't have to be romantic after all, and making connections with as many people as possible is good business practice) Much to my surprise, Davin Greengrass, the town grouch, was dumped from the sky in front of her. I didn't think he'd be back on the market quite that soon. Or altogether on this particular market.

Davin: "Uh, when my mate told me it was a blind date, I didn't think he meant I'd have to be blind to go through with it."
Anna: "Anna thinks you're rude. *Boop* You can leave now.

Nate is quick to re-establish any confidence Anna might have lost in her encounter with Davin :)

Nate: "Whaat you saayy we take this upstaaairrrrs, my silverrr-hued beauty?"
Anna: *giggle*

Robot/Zombie woohoo brings up all sorts of questions, all of which I'm most determined to squash right down again.

Nate has been working on his speech, trying to iron out the zombie slur and up the smarm a bit. A good businessman needs to be charismatic, after all.

While Nate and Anna got up to some more canoodling, I noticed a brand new flirt option that Nate got with Anna, 'Tune Up'. What?
And what are you planning to do with that screwdriver, Nate? oO

I'm speechless, frankly.

Looks like Anna appreciates Nate's mechanical ministrations. You two are so weird.

Anna recharging just looks so pretty <3 The picture doesn't quite do the northern lights-style effect justice. That glow above her shimmers in a myriad of colours. It's so shiny!

Nate's invited over his brother and family for sunday dinner. He wants to look his best, so he can prove that he's coping on his own just fine. Not that he thinks he really needs to prove anything, but it'll put Teddy at ease.

Nate: "Only mooderrrraat'ly mossy. It'll haaave to dooo."

The visitors arrive, and Nate is quick to whisk away Ivy for some uncle/niece time. He really dotes on her, and it's such a crying shame he probably won't be able to have any children of his own. Robots can't conceive as far as I'm aware, and I don't really want to adopt for the sake of non-templatey genetics... Conundrum :(

Teddy: "You spoil her, Nate. She'll be expecting this much attention all the time soon."
Nate: "She's my oooonly niece, unless yooouuu lot hurrryy up and get herrrr a sibling."
Teddy: *shuts his trap*

Allright, enough cutesy spam ^^

Nate and Teddy roughousing a bit while Anna takes care of dinner.

Nate: "Yooou punch like a giirrrrl."
Teddy: "Don't let Rose hear you, she's got a mean left hook on her."

Nate gushing over Anna's cooking :) A nice family meal was had by all, as good an end to this week as any.

That's it for Week 3! I'll be posting an updated castlist shortly, with the town stats, for anyone who's interested.

Was it Teddy who activated Anna, or Nate? She seems quite business-oriented :D

Davin: the resident buttmonkey.

Nate activated Anna, so she's another fortune Sim. And you're right, she absolutely loves running the business end of things. She's working on her silver Selling Badge at the moment. Nate just likes raking in the cash ^^

I know exactly what you mean about the recharging effect... it's soooo amazing! Pictures never do it justice! :P

Yay, robot love! With zombies! The tune-up interaction is great.

I too love the recharging effect. That's how I discovered the electro-crotch.

The electro-what? oO

I wanted a picture of Servy lying next to Nina with those pretty sparklies around them, so I used an OMSP and the poserbox on him while he was recharging. The effect still worked, but the little electric bolts around his tummy went out of alignment, creating a much different effect than I was hoping for: http://skellington7d.livejournal.com/17428.html

You can always create some toddlers/children and put them into the adoption pool, if you're worried about genetics.

The other option that comes to mind is having some parents die while their children are still young, but that'd mean death for someone else, so...

(then again, maybe the other small bots are like children for Anna?)

It is such a shame that zombies can't get alien impregnated, Nate would make such a good father. Lovely update, as usual!

I didn't realise dates didn't have to be romantic, in game, I mean, not real life. I always thought an attached sim would get a cheating memory if they dated. Good to know :)

It wasn't a regular date, but one of those townie 'Hey I'm sure you'd hit it off with this random bloke' things. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not, but as far as I know it didn't get a 'cheated' memory for Anna

Interesting, perhaps it is the end of date kiss that can trigger the cheating memory. I guess it is more likely to be a platonic kiss (like the one on both cheeks) if it is a blind date because the relationship levels are lower.

Not to mention it was Davin, perhaps she didn't want to attempt any kind of kissing with him :)

I'd have to try it again with another Sim to be sure. Anna and Davin have a negative relationship though, so it's not like anything romantic happened... I think they had a bad date ending, in which the other sim just sort of shrugs and goes 'uh thanks I guess, but don't call me again'.

Zombie + Robot = AWESOME! Lol, I loved seeing these two in action. Also loved the toddler spam. Very cute faces indeed. Wonderful update. I also really like your idea about the cast-lists. It makes it really easy to see the changes in the hood from week to week and is also a great reminder about who's who!

I love my toddlers, so far I've won the genetic lottery on my BaCC offspring :)

The castlist was actually requested by someone in the comments a few updates back. I think it's great to be able to see the progress of the hood on a week to week basis as well :)

Hey, if you want robokids for Anna and Nate, you can make Teddy build another Servo and age it down to child. There are several problems with this - namely that they lose the Servo mesh and look like ordinary sims, second - it won't be actually related to Nate and Anna (unless SimPE magic will make Anna feel cybernetic kinship with the little one), and third - they age down with an F grade, so the social worker will come running immediately. And, well, they stay kids forever, unless you decide to age them up again at some point, so it's not that attractive an alternative. But fun in it's own way.

Oh, I had no idea you could do that. :) I think I've got enough non-aging Sims in the neighbourhood for now though. Part of the fun is seeing the generations move along, and Nate and Anna will already be permanent fixtures to the hood. I might have them adopt the normal way, but it doesn't have to be anytime soon.

Anna and Nate are cute together. Although not as cute as the pictures of Nate interacting with Ivy! :)
