BaCC Week 4: The Fenwick Family
Winter has fallen over the village. Food has been stocked, pipes insulated and warm clothes taken out of the closet. Now there's not much left to do aside from sitting out the season and watching the pretty snowflakes fall.

Either I took fewer pictures this round, or some have been lost in the PC crash. Either way, the updates this week are going to be a bit shorter than usual :)

Lily has been working hard, and finally earned that golden Pottery Badge. She can now make ridiculously oversized pots. Yay?

When she's not making pots and other crockery, Lily busies herself with trying to give Flora a headstart on her education.

Felix mostly busies himself trying to get Flora throw up, it seems. He's constantly tossing her in the air and holding her upside down. Are you trying to train her up as an Astronaut or something?

Flora isn't the only one who's been throwing up in this household... I'm quite sure that's not an appropriately hygienic environment for a pregnant woman.

Actual white, creamy milk! Thank goodness :)

The climate is a lot harsher here than it is in SimCity, and the snow has been coming down relentlessly, covering the entire village in a thick, white blanket. Even Felix has made concessions for the weather, and dresses up warm to go outside.

Felix is delighted to find Lily preggers again :) I do love his fluffy blue jammies, especially when he's all wolfed out :P

Birthday time for Flora! The entire town was invited, sans Davin. Sorry Dav, but you'd have just gotten into fights with everyone and ended up stomping on the cake, or something.

Felix is so proud of his little girl ^^

Here's Flora, all made over with a new, nice and warm outfit. She's inherited Felix' nose and eyes, but her mouth and general facial structure are Lily's. Still a really good-looking kid :)

Making a snowman with the family. Seems a bit cold to go out without your warm coat on though, Lils?

Lily: "Giving birth is a breeze after the first time!"

Lily: "I CHANGED MY MIND! YEAAAARGHH!"

Lily gave birth to twins! It's a boy and girl, which they've named Fox and Freesia. Finally some more Y chromosomes for the neighbourhood, as most of the children so far have been girls.

That's it for the Fenwicks this week, thanks for reading! :)

Awww, look at how proud she is of that giant freaking pot.

Have fun caring for the twins! @_@ Good thing Felix is a werewolf, twin toddlers can be a nightmar. Parents passing out, parents passing out everywhere.

I was directing her to make some pottery, going 'hmm, amphora, I wonder what that'll loo... WHAT THE CRAP IS THAT MONSTROSITY?'

Felix and Lily are a tagteam, fortunately. I shudder to think what would happen if it was any other household that had twins.

Great update! I've just caught up with your BaCC and I love it so far!

Flora is such a cute little girl and I can't wait to see what Fox and Freesia are going to look like!

Glad you like it! I'm with you on that last bit, I'm really curious whether I'll be able to keep up my streak of good-looking kids :)

I've just finished reading your BACC and it's really good! I love that there's more of a story to it than the normal BaCC, I've just started my own one yesterday :D

Thank you ^^ I'm glad I managed to succeed in my goal of a more story-driven BaCC :) Hope you have fun with yours!

Twins should be okay now Flora's a kid... having 2 babies and a toddler has sent me insane many a time! :P

(I'm curious, do you reckon you will make any of Felix's kids inherit his werewolfiness? Like, when they become teens they naturally transform - rather than be savaged by their dad, LOL)

I'm so very thankful Felix is a werewolf, he can play tagteam with Lily to take care of the kids.

I'm rolling a die to see who inherits the werewolf gene when they become teenagers :) 50/50 chance of getting it.
The whole 'yay we're friends, let me savage you now!' thing doesn't make a lick of sense anyway.

That sounds like a good plan (will the same happen for witches and vampires etc? And if both parents are the same occult Sim, will it be 100%? You could start the whole Harry Potter half-blood/pure-blood/squib/Muggle-born issue in your BaCC... haha)

[identity profile] nepheris.livejournal.com on May 8th, 2011 12:46 pm (UTC)
Yep, every occult creature's offspring (with the exception of aliens, because that's built into the genetics) will get a 50/50 chance to inherit their parents'... erh, creatureness?

So when Flora, Fox and Freesia reach teen, they'll get two dice rolls: one for werewolf from Felix, and one for witch from Lily. It's still a 50/50 chance for both traits to be passed on.

Don't get me started on a Harry Potter-verse hood, I've been kinda eyeing that to try it out :3

That's a good system! I'm tempted now to do a magic 'hood... Haha :P Maybe use the Hogwarts founders ;)

I also really want to start a BaCC using your rules, but I've got exams soon so I'm trying to refrain from starting it just yet!

That's probably a good idea, as I find my BaCC to be terribly addictive. Just this family... Okay just to finish up this week... Oh but now they can finally afford a community lot! Let me just build that...

Haha, that pot is HUGE! I don't think I've ever got a gold in pottery before, as I've never seen that.

And hee, twins! Love the idea of inherited supernaturals, will a paranormal place still be opened this way? Actually that reminds me, does the paranormal career ever get unlocked totally? Or are places only available when a creature is turned/alien is born?

I was wondering if you'd seen this too? http://lakesideheights.blogspot.com/2010/02/lh-stuff-modified-uni-careers-hack.html it is an AL updated version of Syberspunk's uni career hack. The interesting bit is that the original hack contains instructions on how to modify which careers should have specific degrees as a requisite. I am thinking about modifying it to fit your BaCC rules, although it isn't really needed in game until all careers are unlocked (and Uni too) - so I am probably ages away from that point. Just thought it might be something that might interest you too.

Nope, paranormal spots are only opened when a creature gets actually turned or an alien sim is born through abduction. Inherited creatureness doesn't count for that :) I didn't intend for the career ever to open up completely, it's not a very common career to enter after all.

I haven't seen that hack before, no, but it looks great! I rely on myself to follow the BaCC rules at the moment, assigning careers with the Sim Blender rather than searching for them, but I'd definitely be interested in a version that follow my rules :)

It does make sense keeping it restricted, it isn't a career I use often in game anyway.

Great, I'm putting modifying that hack in my 'to do' list for the next month or so. I'll put it up for download on your new community, if someone doesn't beat me to it :)

The town definitely is having a baby boom :) Some new families should come along soon as well, once some community lots have been established.

Been reading this for a while, thought I'd finally comment. c:

Oh dear, Lily puking in a filthy toilet, in (her own?) wee.

And oversized pot-things, ftw. :D

Hi! *waves* Thanks for commenting :)

Lily didn't have an easy pregnancy this time around, poor thing. She kept fainting, throwing up, missing the toilet by seconds... Good thing that should've been her last pregnancy, unless ACR throws me some surprises.

Lilly certainly does seem pleased with her enormous pot doesn't she?

And Flora grew up beautifully :D

She's all 'Look what I maaade!' :D That good witch grinning gets a bit on my nerves sometimes, but it does give for some pretty funny shots.

Flora is so cute as a child. :) I can't wait to see what Fox and Freesia look like.
I love that you dressed everyone up for winter. I never take the time to do that, but it makes the game seem that more realistic and I love that you pay such attention to detail.
