BaCC Week 5: The Fenwick Family
This week started off with a happy occasion for the Fenwicks, as Fox and Freesia got to celebrate their toddler birthdays. The Fenwicks' life is pretty uneventful nowadays, with Felix busy at work and Lily crafting pottery when she's not looking after the kids. Felix takes over the childrearing when he gets home from work so Lily gets a break as well, which means that he hasn't had a whole lot of time to get those skillpoints in that he needs to advance in the Politics career. He wouldn't have it any other way though, as he loves his kids and is more than happy to spend time with them.

The twins even got a cake! Both of them :) (Disregard Fox' smelly diaper, I sure did)

Fox and Freesia turned out really cute, to the surprise of absolutely noone. I'm hoping they both have Felix' nose, though it's a bit early to tell :) Freesia looks a lot like her sister Flora did when she was little, so I hope they'll differ enough facial-structure wise once she grows up.

I always tend to put down different toddler toys, so my kids can autonomously choose what skills they want to work on. Freesia gravitated towards the charisma bunny, while Fox was all set to find out once and for all which block goes in which hole.

You do know she's just going to throw up all over you again, right Lily? Like she did the other five times before? I know you can just cast Cleanius Corpus afterwards, but it still has to be a pretty awful experience.

The routine Felix and Lily have fallen into means that the kids hardly ever get to see their dad when he's not all wolfed out and furry. I suppose by now they find it very odd whenever he changes into his bald, pinkish form.
Don't the kids look just like furry little cubs in those pajamas? ^^

Flora doesn't get a whole lot of time with her parents, as they're constantly so busy, so shared meals are to be cherished. I'm not sure why she's talking about sports here, as she has pretty much no interest in it. She prefers to play with the chessboard that Felix had come over from the closest city to work on his logic skills.

While Lily loves her kids and is happy to be a mum, she's starting to look forward to when the toddlers grow up and can be shipped off to school during the day. She's a Popularity Sim after all, and she misses the social contacts she had before getting tied down. She'd also like to make a start opening her own business to sell the pottery she crafts, but right now she just doesn't have the time.

Parker Greengrass (yep, he took on Myra's surname) came over to offer his help to Felix.

Parker: "I'm sure I could be useful in some way, so uhm, let me know if there's anything I can do for you."
Felix: "Did Myra put you up to this? Cause you know, you really don't have to..."
Parker: "Oh no! No no, but she certainly did inspire me. She looks up to all you do for the town and all that, so, uhm..." *fidgets*

Oh Parker, could you possibly become any more adorable? I think not.

As it happens, Felix has recently made it to State Assembly Person, and he has been thinking about getting someone to help him out with all the political work. He agrees to take on Parker as his aide, and the two men spend the rest of the afternoon getting to know eachother and dividing the work between them. Parker gets stuck with all the paperwork, but he doesn't mind. He gets along with Felix really well, and by the evening they're already friends, popping Felix back into Gold aspiration after he'd been feeling a bit low for a while.

Parker even got himself muscled into staying over for dinner by Lily, who wouldn't take no for an answer.

Flora: "I know the mister with the beard! He came to pick up Miss Myra from school one day and they... *stagewhisper* did smoochies!"

Taking care of twins and making sure they learn all their skills is pretty tough, even with a parent tagteam. Most of the week was spent in a struggle to keep everyone's motives up, teach the tots and try to keep up with work and pottery related business. Poor Flora had to do her damndest to get someone to help her out with her homework, and when she managed to snag someone they'd often amble off halfway through to go to bed or have a shower.

She doesn't resent the twins though, and actually spends quite a bit of time playing with them. Peekaboo is a big favourite :)

Of course I'd seen this interaction in the start up movie, but I've never had this happen in my game before! Lily was a bit too slow getting Freesia her bottle, so she decided that she was fed up waiting and snagged Fox's, who munched his own arm in distress.

Sunday is Town Gathering day, which means the whole town, including Davin. Felix made him promise to be on his best behaviour and leave Nate alone though. He seemed to comply for most of the evening, mostly taking the opportunity to spend some more time with his kids.

Felix: "Do me a favour, darling?"
Lily: "What is it?"
Felix: "Go and talk to Davin for a bit for me. He's resenting me right now because I put him in a headlock earlier, making him swear he'd keep the peace. He's not had a great time lately and I think he's pretty lonely, living all by himself..."
Lily: "You do realise you're asking me to go and make friendly with the guy who spent our first weeks here tormenting me, right?"
Felix: "Come on Lils, aren't you  the Good Witch of Love and Sparkly Things? For me? Please?"
Lily: "Oh, fine..."

To Lily's surprise, Davin seems to be quite happy to talk to someone who isn't related to him, for once. As long as she doesn't give him the time to do anything nasty, he's not a bad conversationalist, and while they didn't exactly ended up liking eachother, they did manage to drag their relationship levels out of the negatives. Not bad Lily, way to prove you're the bigger woman around here.

Oh grow up Teddy, they're just dancing. *rolls eyes*

Lily: "Strange... I'm feeling like someone just walked over my grave."
Stephen: *looms*

That's it for the Fenwicks this week, thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed it :)

Fox and Freesia are too cute! I hope they get daddy's wolfy genes! :P

It's weird, but I kinda feel sorry for Davin in a weird way. I mean, reap what you sow and all, but it has to be positively miserable living in such a small community where you hardly get along with anyone. Oh well, hopefully he'll learn to behave himself- I know the other residents are a pretty accepting lot in general.

Hearing how you write about Lily makes me want to have an active witch in the game (had the game for ages, yet somehow I haven't done a lot in that area. you know how it is, TS2 has so much to do...)

I seriously love the wood flooring in the pictures where the toddlers are fighting. Is that a maxis floor I'm just overlooking, or...?

Freesia is adorable, and I love that as well as the F naming scheme she and Flora got...well...floral names, continuing the Lovelace theme, too.

Parker is just a dear, isn't he?

I love how warm and toasty everyone is dressed. I also really like the idea of a Town Gathering Day.

Your pictures are lovely and inspiring.

Thanks so much :) Davin seems to be mellowing out a lot with age and making attempts to reconcile with some of the other settlers, so here's hoping he'll keep it up and find some form of acceptance.

Lily's the first witch I've properly played (I had a few now and then but hardly did anything with them). She's just a normal Sim with perks, but seeing as she shot up the ranks from neutral to good witch pretty fast, she's sort of become the town's fairy godmother in my mind.

The wood flooring is an edited Maxis floor, it's for download here: http://www2.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=330505

The 'heir' of the Fenwick family is going to continue the F.F. initial naming tradition, I don't know who'll get the job just yet though :) Ivy will probably continue the Lovelace floral naming tradition, seeing as she's the only child who actually still carries the surname (Teddy and Rose never got married after all).

I'm trying to change my Sim's clothing according to season, so they don't prance around mid-winter in short skirts and thin shirts. It's fun to put a wardrobe together for them ^^

Damn, them's some good genes. The Fenwicks are all so pretty :D You think Felix and Lily will be satisfied with three kids?

Stephen. When he gets old, you have to make him a vampire, or a zombie, or a Servo, because the neighbourhood will be empty without his judging presence!

I'm totally pinning the good genes on Felix, cuz y'know, I love the guy. Felix wouldn't mind having some more, but Lily is totally done with the kids thing. She wants to have a life of her own instead of being a full-time mum, so three kids is more than enough for her.

Well, who knows what Stephen'll get up to in that cult of his? :D

Come to think of it, becmoing a vampire would unlock his preferred career for him...

It would, but seeing as there's no Downtown yet (and I don't think we'll get there anytime soon), there's no Grand Vampires about for bitin' just yet either.

Well nothing's stopping me from hooking him up on the green juice until such time as he can get himself a bit of immortality :P

The twins are gorgeous, although as you say, that's not too much of a surprise. They're probably waiting for their fur to grow ;)

Also, Parker is awesome, I love it when you hit the townie jackpot, and I think you certainly did with him!

I kinda hope they do, I'm sort of referring to them as 'the cubs' rather than 'the twins' in my head already :D

I recently caught up on the earlier chapters of the BACC and I don't know which I like better: your pictures or your commentary. :) I'm really enjoying this grow. And your sims do have amazing genes.

That last picture and comment were my favorite. Oh, Stephen.

I don't know if I have it in me to do a full BACC, but I'm definitely integrating some of these rules into my normal playstyle.

I really look forward to your updates!

Ahw, I'm so glad you're enjoying it :) Thanks!

Stephen is incredibly entertaining to be around. He sort of has this habit of standing uncomfortably close to other Sims, just staring. Stephen Greengrass, Personal Space Invader :p

That's so fitting. "Keep your friends close and your enemies [uncomfortably] closer," right?

I realize I made a typo. I meant to say I'm enjoying watching this grow.

And then I posted in the wrong place. Ignore the deleted comment, sorry. I'm really scatterbrained today.

Don't worry about it :)

Or perhaps: 'Keep everyone uncomfortably closer, as it's hilarious to watch them freak out'.

I've been lurking and reading and not commenting...changing that today:0)

I've really been enjoying Riverside Hollow. I felt bad when Davin screwed up and then cheered when Mrya found Parker. Giggled over Nate being, "differently alive." Felt sad when Anna had her melt down and thought all the new little kids are just adorable...and little creeped out by Mr. Stand To Close Stephen. I can't wait to see what he stirs up in Riverside Hollow.

I had two other attempts at the BacCC, but computer issues shut down progress. I started another one after reading yours. Thanks for the new set of rules:0)

Hello no-longer-lurker ^^ Nice to hear from you!

So glad that you're enjoying the updates :) We've set up a little community for people that are trying out the new BaCC rules: http://buildacity.livejournal.com
I'm keeping the rules updated there and people link their own BaCCs. Come join us if you like and share your hood, it's always great to see what other people are up to in their game :)

Poor Steven! All he wants are little minions, cheering at his superb plans of world domination...
Either that or he needs a friend... you know some sort of sidekick, nodding at everything he says! :D

Oh Parker, you are too awesome!

I like that Lily was the 'bigger person', that is such a good witch thing to do. I hope that Darin isn't let off too easily though, he is a bit of a nasty piece of work!

Are Nate and Rose just about to do a dance kiss? Or was that just a slow dance? I'm with Teddy on that shocked face!

Don't really remember what interaction they were doing, but not much seemed to come from it so I don't think it was a kiss :)

If Davin wants to get back into people's good graces, he'll have to work his arse off for it because aside from Lily's chatting, I'm not letting anyone else have any positive interactions with him. And whenever he misbehaves, he can spend some time thinking he's a chicken or being covered in bees :P

I can't believe how good looking all Riverside Hollow's kids are! I love that you gather everyone together for a town shindig on Sunday. Is that everywhere, or only the Fenwicks'?

Only the Fenwicks throw the town shindig (hah! I love that word :D), sort of in honour of their first day when they were left to socialise and form relationships on their own. I just summon everyone with the Sim Blender and let them run loose until they go home. It's really quite cool to see how my Sims' relationships develop over time like this :)

And yes, Riverside Hollow has a serious case of good genes going on ^^
